The first cohort of the Master’s in Cybersecurity programme – led by MaivenPoint and the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) under the Singapore-Vietnam Talent Exchange (ITX) Programme – has officially graduated, marking a significant step forward in advancing the development of next-generation cybersecurity talent.
A total of 23 students, who enrolled in the MaivenPoint Work-Study Programme in September 2024, successfully completed the Master of Science in Technology and Design (Cybersecurity) from SUTD while working full-time at AvePoint — demonstrating not only academic excellence but also real-world readiness.
Over two years, the cohort balanced postgraduate education with professional responsibilities, gaining hands-on experience in enterprise cybersecurity environments.
Graduates leave the programme with credentials and experience, including:
This integrated model – where academic learning meets real-world application – equips graduates with the skills required to tackle today’s rapidly evolving cyber threat landscape.
The initiative is part of the ITX Programme, a government-to-government effort designed to accelerate digital talent development and deepen cross-border collaboration.
By bridging education, industry, and international partnerships, the programme supports the development of a globally competitive cybersecurity workforce — equipped for the future of cybersecurity, data, and digital innovation.
Speaking at the ceremony, AvePoint CEO TJ Jiang shared reflections on his personal journey and the mindset required to build from uncertainty.

“My whole life was defined by the sudden drops of the unknown. But it led me to discover a profound truth: I could survive with my own grit. Instead of letting the fear paralyze me, I used that moment to take complete ownership of my destiny. In 2003, from a public library, with no venture capital, but just our brains and bare hands, my cofounder Kai and I started AvePoint.”
Drawing from his experience of building a global company from the ground up, TJ emphasized that resilience, adaptability, and ownership are essential traits for the next generation of technology leaders.
This philosophy is deeply aligned with the programme’s mission — to develop not only strong technical capabilities, but also the leadership mindset needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital world.
The graduation of this first cohort represents more than an academic milestone; it reflects MaivenPoint’s long-term vision to reshape how technology talent is developed.
At the heart of this commitment is the belief that future-ready talent is not built through education alone, but through a deliberate integration of learning, industry immersion, and real-world problem solving. MaivenPoint is actively building structured pathways where academic knowledge is continuously reinforced through applied experience in live enterprise environments.
Through partnerships across universities and industry stakeholders, the MaivenPoint Work-Study Programme is designed to bridge the gap between theory and practice. Students are not only exposed to real-world challenges in a dynamic business environment — they are also entrusted to apply their learning in meaningful, practical contexts, supported by mentorship and structured on-the-job training.
As the digital economy continues to evolve, initiatives like this programme will play a critical role in preparing talent to thrive — ensuring they are not just participants in change, but drivers of it.
